“My Redeemer’s Praise” by Dunsin Oyekan is a powerful Nigerian gospel song that calls believers to place their complete focus and trust in Jesus, especially during life’s challenges. With a deep and reverent tone, the song emphasizes looking to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith (Hebrews 12:2), as the ultimate source of strength and deliverance. The lyrics suggest that even in the midst of the fiercest storms, there’s a way to overcome—through a heart of praise to our Redeemer.
This song resonates with the idea of maintaining unwavering praise and trust in God. “I will not be moved,” Oyekan declares, echoing the psalmist’s assurance in Psalm 16:8: “I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.” For Oyekan, praise is not just an act but a refuge and a weapon—a “way of escape” amid life’s difficulties. This connects with passages like 2 Chronicles 20:22, where praise led to victory, highlighting the biblical truth that worship can shift circumstances and bring about divine intervention.
“My Redeemer’s Praise” is a song that invites listeners to adopt praise as a lifestyle, no matter what they face. By focusing on Christ, we find strength and the assurance that God will indeed provide a way out.
