Solomon Lange’s song “Grace,” from his 2016 album My Offering, is a deeply moving reflection on the power of God’s grace. Lange, a well-known Nigerian gospel singer, captures the essence of grace as the foundation of the Christian life. With roots in Kaduna State, he brings a unique blend of Hausa and English to his music, giving it a universal appeal. His humble beginnings singing in a village Baptist Church choir at the age of nine blossomed into a flourishing solo career, with his first independent work released in 2002.
In “Grace,” Lange emphasizes that it’s not by human strength or effort that believers succeed, but by God’s divine help. Echoing Ephesians 2:8-9, which states, “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast,” Solomon Lange beautifully captures the theme of salvation and victory through grace alone.
The lyrics express gratitude to Jesus for taking away shame and pain, replacing them with a new identity and divine favor. Lange’s powerful declaration in the lyrics, “Everywhere that I go, everything that I do, all I see is grace,” is a constant reminder of God’s unmerited favor. His testimony mirrors the promise found in 2 Corinthians 12:9, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.”
With its uplifting melody and profound message, “Grace” is not just your usual gospel song—it’s a reminder of how God’s grace enables, strengthens, and blesses us in every season of life. This song is recommended to anyone seeking to be reminded of God’s endless mercy, offering peace in the knowledge that His grace is always sufficient.
